Top Teen of Canada is a youth development program open to youth across Canada. From hundreds of applications, 24 youth are chosen each year to compete in Vancouver for the Top Teen of Canada title on the basis of community involvement and a desire to change today’s society. Contestants take part in many workshops, some of which are: public speaking, “Words that Hurt” - a workshop on respect and the consequences of bullying, learning to be a Motivational Youth Speaker on issues that are important to the speaker.
“Being chosen Top Teen of Canada is a guaranteed way to get my voice heard. Working with Top Teen staff and my drama coaches I will have the chance to work on my platform issue which I call, the "I Don't Care" theory. I feel that many people, especially my generation, don't seem to care about important issues such as global warming, homelessness, poverty, teen pregnancy, etc and would like to inspire people and especially youth to get involved. It's been a truly amazing experience. I’ve met many amazing people and learned so much about myself as well as gaining lots of self confidence. I'm excited about this upcoming year!”
